Glass 30
The second RL design began with one rule: no silicon in the signal path, only valves. A lively, defined clean tone with exceptional touch sensitivity.

The second RL design
No silicon.
Only valves.
Following the Blue Eye, the Hot Glass 30 took the RL philosophy towards an amplifier built around clean tone, dynamics and a direct connection with the player.
The Fender-inspired preamplifier uses an Electro-Harmonix 12AX7. A second EH 12AX7 drives the long-tail phase inverter, keeping the sound open, defined and ready to respond to every variation in touch.

The sound follows your fingers.
Volume and three-band EQ — Treble, Middle and Bass — shape the core voice. The Fat/Thin switch adapts the basic character to different guitar pickups: extra body and depth, or a leaner, more open response.
Presence and Resonance work on the output-stage feedback, completing the shaping at both ends of the spectrum. The JJ 6V6 valves were chosen for a smooth, modern and personal voice, while the output transformer follows a Vox AC30-derived architecture.
JJ GZ34 tube rectification delivers the maximum touch dynamics associated with vintage amplifiers. Solid-state rectification produces a firmer, more expressive and defined response.
On the rear panel, Gain Focus adapts the signal from different guitars to the output stage. It can preserve extra headroom or encourage earlier power-stage breakup and natural output-valve saturation. Together, these choices make the Hot Glass 30 one of the finest amplifiers ever built by RL.
